Buyer Questions This Page Should Answer

What is a floor spring used for?

A floor spring is a door closing mechanism installed into the floor beneath a door, used to control opening speed, closing action, and optional hold-open positions — commonly used for glass doors and heavy wooden or profile doors.

What load capacity do Hettich floor springs support?

Hettich's range covers door weights from 80 kg up to 150 kg, depending on the series selected (650 Series: 100 kg, 750 Series: 80/100 kg, 840 Series: 150 kg).

Are any models fire-rated or certified?

Yes. The 840 Series (HTS FS844) is fire-rated and EN1154 certified, and the HTS FS 843 model also carries EN1154 certification — relevant for commercial and high-traffic installations.

What's the difference between a floor pivot hinge and a floor spring?

A floor pivot/hinge provides basic pivoting support for door installation and is compatible with glass patch fittings, while a floor spring (such as the 650 or 840 Series) adds cam-action closing control, back check, and hold-open functionality.

What door width and weight do I need to check before buying?

Confirm your door's weight (80–150 kg range covered) and width (up to 1100 mm supported on featured models) against the specific SKU's rated capacity before purchasing.
